Life Insurance with Endometriosis

Is it easier for you to listen? Here’s my 60 second audio summary

life insurance with endometriosis
You’re not alone.

Endometriosis is the most common gynaecological condition that affects life insurance premiums.

It occurs in up to 15% of all women.

But finding the most sympathetic life insurance company when it comes to endometriosis can be a challenge.

What are my chances of getting affordable life insurance with endometriosis?

Pretty good, once you choose the right insurance company.

Endometriosis is not life threatening so you should be able to get the same price that everyone else pays.

i.e. the insurer shouldn’t add a loading to the price of your policy

What questions will the insurance company ask?

When underwriting an application for life insurance with endometriosis, the insurance company will request the following information:

  • When were you diagnosed with endometriosis?
  • How severe is your endometriosis? (describe your symptoms)
  • Have you had surgery? (any complications?)
  • Are you currently taking medication for endometriosis?
  • Do you go for regular check ups with your gynaecologist?
  • Have any of your family contracted cancer of the uterus or ovaries?

Click here to complete a gynaecological questionnaire and I can speak with my underwriters about your case anonymously.

Will I need to do a medical?

It’s very unlikely.

There’s a small chance the insurance company will write to your GP for a medical report.

Here’s a handy chart explaining how life insurance underwriting works.

How much will my cover cost?

Once there are no complications, you should get the normal price for life insurance, mortgage protection and for Serious Illness Cover.

If you’re applying for income protection, there may be an exclusion for absence from work due to endometriosis.

Where can I get a quote for life insurance with endometriosis?

We deal with all the life insurance companies in Ireland.

Feel free to compare life insurance and mortgage protection quotes here.

Is there anything else I need to know?

You can make the life insurance application process go really smoothly by giving as much detail as possible when completing your application form.

Also use an independent broker who deals with all 6 life insurance companies:

  • Zurich Life
  • Royal London
  • New Ireland
  • Irish Life
  • Friends First
  • Aviva

This will give you the best chance of getting the lowest price.

Do you know Irish Life have a minimum premium of €15 compared to €10 at Friends First.

This means you could pay 50% more at Irish Life for the exact same amount of cover.

That sucks doesn’t it?

Most of the Irish banks sells Irish Life insurance products so be very careful when choosing between a broker and a bank for life insurance with endometriosis.
